Teleflex Medical OEM Opens Technology Center In Mansfield, Mass.

State-of-the-art facility provides customers with centralized product development services

BANNOCKBURN, Ill., June 22, 2005 — Teleflex Medical today announces that its strategic business unit, Teleflex Medical OEM — a preeminent global outsource provider focusing on medical devices and orthopedic surgical instruments — is opening its first U.S. -based technology center located in Mansfield, Mass. This new facility will provide a central point of contact for all of Teleflex Medical OEM's brands, including TFX OEM and Deknatel™. Medical device manufacturers nationwide who require medical devices such as catheters, sutures and guidewires can now take advantage of the full spectrum of Teleflex Medical OEM product development services at this site.

"Teleflex Medical OEM has always been able to provide its OEM partners with hands-on expertise in every aspect of product development. However, prior to this new technology center, that expertise has been more decentralized," said Ed Boarini, vice president of research & development, Teleflex Medical OEM. "We've centralized the contact point for OEM services in the new Mansfield facility and have made the product development process much more convenient and efficient for our partners."

The technology center was designed to ensure that Teleflex Medical OEM meets the expanding needs of its customers. It offers OEMs services that include:

  • Customer focused product development
  • Test development
  • Prototyping
  • CAD
  • Product fabrication

Teleflex OEM developed this center in response to its customers' demands. Medical device manufacturers have come to view the company as a co-developer of complementary product systems that support the development of their medical devices, and the technology center will make it easier for customers to interact directly with Teleflex Medical OEM experts. Space has been added to accommodate customers who choose to be directly involved in the product development process. "Working directly with our OEM partners to meet the challenges they face as they develop their medical products assures quick prototype turnaround and quicker time to market, which was our goal when we built the new technology center," said Boarini.
